The Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Plumber to join a growing facilities maintenance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled plumber with a strong background working within commercial buildings and facilities maintenance environments.

The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing together with a G3 / Unvented Hot Water qualification. However, highly experienced commercial plumbers who may not currently hold G3 will also be considered if they can demonstrate approximately 10 years or more of strong commercial plumbing and building maintenance experience.

Candidates who have previously worked for established FM and building-services companies such as CBRE, Mitie, EMCOR, NG Bailey, Integral, ISS, Equans, Kier, Skanska, JLL, BGIS or similar organisations would be particularly relevant.

Key Responsibilities

The Commercial Plumber will be responsible for planned and reactive plumbing maintenance across commercial properties.

Typical duties will include:

Planned preventative and reactive plumbing maintenance

Diagnosing and repairing plumbing faults

Maintenance and repair of hot and cold water systems

Commercial sanitaryware maintenance and replacement

Repairing and replacing taps, valves, pipework and associated fittings

Installation and repair of toilets, basins, sinks and other sanitary equipment

Investigating leaks and water-related faults

Pipework repairs and modifications

Maintaining water heaters and hot water systems

Working on unvented hot water cylinders where appropriately qualified

Pumps, valves, expansion vessels and associated plumbing components

Clearing minor blockages and drainage-related faults

Carrying out small plumbing installations and remedial works

Completing minor building-services and general maintenance tasks where required

Identifying additional works and reporting defects

Liaising with clients, site teams and other engineers

Completing job sheets and maintenance records accurately

Ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures

Working independently and managing allocated jobs effectively

Candidate Requirements

Ideally, applicants will have:

NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing

G3 / Unvented Hot Water qualification

Strong commercial plumbing experience

Experience working within facilities management or building maintenance

Good fault-finding and diagnostic ability

Experience maintaining hot and cold water systems

Good knowledge of commercial plumbing installations

Experience carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance

A professional and customer-focused approach

Good communication skills

Ability to work independently

Strong health and safety awareness

Full UK driving licence

Experienced Plumbers Without G3

Experienced plumbers who do not currently hold the G3 qualification will still be considered where they can demonstrate substantial commercial experience.

Candidates with 10+ years' plumbing experience, particularly within commercial buildings and FM environments, are encouraged to apply.

The key requirement is someone who is genuinely capable of operating as an experienced commercial maintenance plumber rather than somebody whose background has been predominantly domestic plumbing.

Experience working for one of the major facilities-management or building-services contractors would be advantageous.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will be an experienced, dependable plumber who is comfortable attending commercial sites, identifying faults and completing repairs without requiring constant supervision.

You should be confident dealing directly with clients and site management and be capable of representing the business professionally while on site.

This position would particularly suit someone who has spent several years within the commercial FM sector and understands the standards expected when working in occupied, professional buildings.

Water Regulations qualification

Commercial plant-room experience

Pump and valve maintenance

Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge

Water hygiene / Legionella awareness

Experience with PPM systems

Multi-skilled building maintenance experience

Additional mechanical or plumbing qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile

Option 1 - Qualified Commercial Plumber

NVQ Level 2/3 qualified plumber with G3/Unvented Hot Water certification and solid commercial FM experience.

Option 2 - Highly Experienced Commercial Plumber

An experienced plumber with approximately 10+ years within commercial maintenance who may not currently hold G3 but has extensive practical experience maintaining commercial properties.

This is not a domestic plumbing position. Candidates should be able to demonstrate genuine commercial building-maintenance experience.
