Commercial Manager – North of Scotland
Are you an experienced Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor looking for your next career opportunity with an established Scottish contractor?
We are seeking an experienced commercial professional to join a successful contractor delivering a varied portfolio of construction and civil engineering projects across the north of Scotland and Highlands.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Lead contract negotiations and ensure appropriate commercial protection.
Review contracts and identify, manage and mitigate commercial risk.
Provide advice on contractual obligations, variations, extensions of time and commercial matters.
Work closely with project teams to monitor costs, performance and commercial opportunities.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
Provide commercial input from the early pre-construction stage.
Ensure contractual procedures, notices and records are maintained correctly.
Support procurement and contractual decision-making.
Provide leadership and guidance to the wider commercial team.
ABOUT YOU
You will have significant experience in commercial management within construction or civil engineering, with strong knowledge of contracts, negotiation and risk management.
Ideally, you will have:
Experience as a Commercial Manager, Senior QS or Managing QS.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and contractual procedures.
Proven contract negotiation and management experience.
Excellent commercial and risk-management skills.
Experience working with clients and consultants from pre-construction through delivery.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Experience managing or mentoring commercial staff.
A proactive and commercially focused approach.
Consultancy or client-side experience would be advantageous.
LOCATION
The successful candidate will be based in the north of Scotland, with travel to project locations as required.
