About the role

Join our Power Commercial team as a Commercial Manager and you’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the industry.
Purpose of the role:
Responsible for the financial management of a major, complex project(s) or a number of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating, agreeing contracts, change management, commercial delivery for projects often in excess of tens of millions of pounds.
Integral part of the project senior leadership team holding key responsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of each project.

What you'll be doing
Lead on collating costs and maximising value on a large project or portfolio of projects
Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles
Manage the preparation of Target Cost for a Project, including the associated risks
Support the review of tenders, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews
Provide commercial input to value engineering reviews
Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports.
Present commercial progress to senior divisional staff
Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts
Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members to ensure development of talent and succession within the team and support sponsored student
Who we're looking for
An organised, innovative and creative Commercial Manager with in-depth knowledge and experience of working on Projects and Portfolio’s.
Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership. Extensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility, and a talent for negotiation.
Leading on and embedding a mindset within the team of financial and commercial control within a project(s).
Demonstration of Strategic Change Management
Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members to
ensure development of talent and succession within the team
Demonstration of working to deadlines including effective delegation, working
efficiently and to a high standard
Excellent communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders
Keen interest and experience in infrastructure projects
Demonstration of resilience and determination to succeed (achievement focus)
Proactively manage opportunities, risks and threats
Track record of managing and developing a commercial team and a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.
Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB
