We’re looking for an experienced Gas Engineer to join a prestigious Life Sciences contract in Darlington. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regulated, technically advanced environment, maintaining critical heating and gas systems that support cutting-edge scientific and research activities.
???? What you’ll be doing:
???? Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on commercial gas systems and associated mechanical plant
????️ Servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on boilers, burners, water heaters and heating systems
???? Conducting gas safety inspections and ensuring compliance with current regulations
⚙️ Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime
???? Managing maintenance tasks through the CAFM system and maintaining accurate records
???? Supporting statutory compliance and health & safety requirements
???? Supervising specialist subcontractors when required
???? Assisting with quotations, remedial works and minor projects
???? Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
???????? What we’re looking for:
• Recognised qualification in Plumbing & Heating, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Current Commercial Gas Qualifications (CODNCO1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1A, CORT1 or equivalent)
• Experience within Facilities Management, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Manufacturing or other critical environments
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Proven experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
• Good understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance requirements
• Strong communication and customer service skills
⭐ Desirable:
✔️ IOSH Managing Safely
✔️ Experience with CAFM systems
✔️ Knowledge of BMS systems
✔️ Experience working in regulated or business-critical environments
✔️ Multi-skilled mechanical knowledge including pumps, valves, HVAC and water systems
