We are looking to recruit a Commercial Engineer for a precision engineering business based in Washington, Tyne & Wear.

You must be an experienced engineer and have either worked in a commercial role previously or looking to take that step from shop floor to more of an office based role.

Hours of work would be 7.00am - 4.00pm Monday - Thursday 7.00am - 12.00pm Friday.

Duties will include:

Ability to attract sales in line with the business’s capabilities, assist in the delivery of projects as and when required, manage programs, encompassing all relevant details, Including on time, under budget and in accordance with the customers quality requirements.

Assist in the execution of an efficient internal communication strategy, ensuring all levels of communication are maintained in all areas of the business.

*

Assist in all aspects of the project and program engagement from planning, Production, supply chain, highlighting at the earliest opportunity program change or risks. You will help develop the cost base, schedule, partnering/supplier strategy, risk assessment and mitigation, EHS&Q plan, cash flow analysis, overall delivery programme and lifetime support programme for bids and quotations in response to customer ITT’s and RFQ’s.

Through continual improvement set and continually manage projects from the customer expectations, requesting support from the appropriate teams to ensure project and program deliverables, including driving through cost saving innovation

Along with the projects team monitor, track and control project and program deliverables, including outcomes of resolved issues, conflicts and dependencies ensuring critical path process is always maintained. Supply information relating to P+L to the financial controller.

Ensure that you are an active member of the bidding process, establishing a full understanding of associated costs and potential risks in manufacture that could have a financial impact.

Ensure that all projects are directly attributed to your role, but share best practice methodologies ensuring project consistency and process repeatability.

*

Ensure all documentation related to the specific projects or programs are maintained and in line with all quality expectations.

*

Prepare estimates for work to be carried out, and assist production in sharing that information, ensuring all manufacturing processes are aware of program expectations.

Key business priorities for the role:

Ability to develop sales contacts within all business sectors.

*

Ensuring projects and programs are delivered on time and under budget.

*

Ability to draft, submit or assist comprehensive project plans, program bids and submitted quotations

*

Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from team members, supply chain and customers.

Experience/ Skills required:

*

Able to read and interpret technical information and drawings including CAD design understanding. and use various measuring equipment.

*

Experience working in relevant business sectors ensuring cross functional understanding.

*

Preferred business and engineering qualification in the appropriate field.

*

Proficient on IT systems such as MS project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
