Commercial Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Office Based (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £35,000- £45000 + dependent on experience
About the Role
Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a Commercial Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial experience within an electrical contracting environment who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive and experienced team. The Contracts and Senior Contracts Managers have been managing the commercial responsibilities alongside their operational duties but as the volume of work continues to increase, we are looking to add additional support to the team.
One of the key benefits of this role is the exposure to both commercial and operational aspects of project delivery. Working closely with Contracts and Senior Contracts Managers, you will receive hands-on training that extends beyond traditional quantity surveying duties, providing a broader understanding of how projects are managed from inception through to completion.
The role is primarily office based and will also involve site visits as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the commercial team with the day-to-day management of project costs and financial administration.
* Assisting with the preparation of valuations, variations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
* Monitoring project expenditure and supporting cost reporting processes.
* Assisting with subcontractor and supplier administration.
* Maintaining commercial records, documentation, and project files.
* Supporting Contracts and Senior Contracts Managers with commercial activities across various projects.
* Attending site visits and meetings as required.
* Helping to identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout project lifecycles.
Requirements
Essential
* Ideally no less than 1 year's commercial experience within an electrical contracting environment.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Good understanding of commercial processes and project cost management.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* Experience in a Commercial Assistant, Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Estimating, or Junior Quantity Surveyor role.
* Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction-related disciplines.
* Desire to progress a career within commercial management and quantity surveying.
