JOB PURPOSE
Program, set and run twin spindle multi axis Lathes and approve programs with Cimco. Support R&D with prototyping and development.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
These will include the following listed below and other duties may be assigned depending on the needs of the business:
• CNC Programming: Using Alphacam Cad Cam software to Develop and optimize CNC multi axis Lathe programs based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and other technical specifications. Proving out programs and 1st of inspection. Managing the CNC program data base using Cimco and approving or rejecting CNC programs returned from machines and maintaining accurate records of setup sheets and tooling information.
• Prototype Development: Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand prototype requirements and design intent. Interpret technical drawings, CAD models (using solid works), and specifications to determine machining operations. Design transfer to production.
• Machine Setup: Set up multi axis CNC lathes (Daewoo puma 2500sy with Y-axis and live tooling, Daewoo puma 240MS with live tooling), including loading materials, fixtures, and tools, and calibrating machine settings to achieve precise results and monitor consumable levels and advise when stocks are low.
• Operation: Safely and efficiently operate multi axis CNC lathes to manufacture small batch and prototype components, adhering to production schedules and quality requirements.
• Quality Control: Using inspection equipment, perform 1st off and in-process inspections to verify part conformity to engineering drawings and close tolerances, making necessary adjustments when required. • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to multi axis CNC lathe operations, tool wear, or machine malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining production efficiency. • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives, design and manufacture fixtures, prototypes, suggesting ideas to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency in manufacturing operations. • Maintenance: Keeping machines and workspace clean and tidy and undertake weekly maintenance checks and record on machinery maintenance check sheet.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (cont) • Document control: Maintain accurate records of programs (using Cimco software), setting sheets, fixtures, and tooling and Loading works orders based on production plan.

Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Capable of troubleshooting machining issues and implementing effective solutions.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and effectively communicate technical information.
Other Manufacturing Duties and responsibilities may include:

Plastic de-burring (use of scalpel).

Blast and mask orthopaedic implants and instruments.

Visually check orthopaedic implants.

Dimensional check of implants to set specifications.

Complete and check inspection data.

Complete and check route cards.

Handle orthopaedic implants.
Day-to-day Machine Responsibilities.
Program, set and run.
Daewoo Puma 2500sy 3 off (Twin spindle with Y-axis, driven tooling, Fanuc control)
Daewoo Puma 240MS 2 off (Twin spindle with Live tooling, Fanuc control)

Personal attributes/competencies:

Good communication skills and ability to train and develop staff when required.
• Strong Team player with enthusiastic and positive attitude.

Ability to work on own initiative.

Good knowledge of manufacturing process improvements.
• Ability to operate any of the machinery required to meet the production schedule and agreed targets.
• Undertaking any additional duties as required.
Skills and experience:
Essential:
• Strong Knowledge and ability of programming, setting, and operating multi axis CNC lathes.

Knowledge and experience of programming with Licom Alpha cam or equivalent software package.

Knowledge of Solid works or equivalent CAD software.

Good communication skills with management and team members.

Knowledge and experience of improving machining processes and dealing with tool suppliers.

Final or in-line inspection experience.
• Knowledge and experience of multi axis CNC lathes with Live tooling.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings.
• Able to use a wide variety of measuring and inspection equipment.
Desirable:

Knowledge and experience of Fanuc control machines.

Knowledge of program data base management software such as Cimco or equivalent.

Knowledge and experience of Daewoo Puma 2500sy

Knowledge and experience of Daewoo Puma 240MS
