CNC Turner Programmer

£18-£19 per hour
Shillito Group are recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner Programmer to join a well established precision engineering business in Rotherham.
This is a hands on programming and setting role for someone who is comfortable taking a component from drawing through to finished part.
You will be working on modern CNC turning equipment, producing high precision components and taking responsibility for programming, tooling, setting, inspection and process improvement.
The role
Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machinery
Producing precision components from engineering drawings
Creating, editing and improving CNC programs
Setting tooling and preparing machines for production
Adjusting speeds, feeds, offsets and machine parameters
Completing first off checks and in-process inspection
Working with driven tooling and multi-axis machining
Identifying and resolving machining issues
Improving cycle times, tool life and production efficiency
Running more than one machine where required
Completing quality and traceability documentation
Supporting wider continuous improvement activity
The experience needed
You will need previous experience programming and setting CNC lathes or turning centres.
This is not an operator only position, so you should be comfortable editing or writing programs, setting tools and offsets, proving out jobs and inspecting your own work.
Experience with any of the following would be useful:
Multi-axis CNC turning
Bar fed machining
Driven or live tooling
Small or complex precision components
G-code programming
CAM-based programming
Working to tight tolerances
Machining stainless steel, titanium, brass or engineering plasticsYou should also be confident reading engineering drawings and using micrometres, callipers, gauges and other precision inspection equipment.
