About the Role

Contek are recruiting for a well-established precision engineering specialist looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Turner to join our busy machining team.

In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, precision components ( bespoke engineering parts). The parts are large. You will be working primarily with Fanuc controls and must be fully capable of programming, setting, and operating 2-axis and multi-axis turning centres from engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities

*

Program, set, and operate CNC Lathes equipped with Fanuc control systems.

*

Work directly from technical engineering drawings to produce precise components to tight tolerances.

*

program at the machine controls and create new programs for one-off/small-batch production.

*

Perform full setups, including tooling selection, jaw changing, and datum setting.

*

Inspect your own work using standard measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, bore gauges) to ensure strict quality standards.

*

Machining medium-to-large scale components across a variety of materials (metallic alloys, steel, plastics, etc.).

*

Maintain high standards of health and safety and keep work areas clean and orderly.

Candidate Requirements

*

Experience: Proven, hands-on experience as a CNC Turner within a high-precision manufacturing environment.

*

Controls: Strong proficiency in Fanuc programming (G-code / M-code editing and offline or manual programming at the machine).

*

Skills: Ability to program, set, and operate independently without constant supervision.

*

Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.

*

Inspection: Confident in first-off and in-process dimensional inspection.

*

Background: Experience working with hydraulic components or heavy engineering parts is advantageous, but not essential.
