Description:

CNC Turner / Programmer

£37,000 – £43,000 per annum + overtime
Permanent | Days | Monday to Friday

Are you an experienced CNC Turner / Programmer looking for a permanent days-based position with an early finish every Friday?

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner / Programmer to join a well established precision engineering business. This is a hands on programming, setting and operating role, suited to someone who is confident working independently and can write CNC turning programmes from scratch at the machine.

The role

You’ll be responsible for taking components from engineering drawing through to finished product, including programming, setting, operating, tooling and in-process inspection.

The role involves working primarily on 2-axis CNC turning machines, producing one-off and low-to-medium volume precision components across a range of materials.

You’ll be expected to:

* Write CNC turning programmes from scratch at the machine using G-code / long-hand programming

* Set and operate 2 axis CNC lathes

* Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings

* Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds and cutting conditions

* Complete full machine set ups with minimal supervision

* Edit and optimise existing CNC programmes where required

* Carry out in-process inspection and ensure components meet required tolerances and specifications

* Produce one off and low to medium volume precision components

* Work with components ranging from smaller parts through to larger components

* Maintain a high standard of quality and attention to detail

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is genuinely hands on with CNC programming rather than purely a setter/operator.

You should have:

* Previous experience as a CNC Turner / Programmer

* Strong experience programming, setting and operating 2-axis CNC turning machines

* The ability to write programmes from scratch / long-hand at the machine

* Strong knowledge of G-code programming

* Good understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and surface finishes

* Experience selecting tooling and determining appropriate speeds, feeds and cutting conditions

* The ability to work independently with minimal supervision

* A quality-focused and reliable approach to your work

Fanuc controls and Fanuc Manual Guide i experience would be advantageous, although relevant CNC turning and programming experience will be considered.

What's on offer?

* £37,000 – £43,000 per annum, depending on experience

* Permanent, full time position

* Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

* Early finish on a Friday: 8:00am – 2:30pm

* Overtime paid at time and a half

* 28 days' holiday including Bank Holidays

* Additional Christmas shutdown holiday

* Pension scheme

* Healthcare scheme

* Excellent working environment

* Long term opportunity within an established precision engineering business

* Immediate start available
