The CNC Sliding Head Programmer Setter role itself, where you will take ownership of programming, setting and operating multi-axis sliding head machines, producing complex, high-precision components to exacting standards.
Working with Star SR-32JIII Type B CNC sliding head technology, your responsibilities will include:
Programming, setting and operating multi-axis CNC sliding head lathes.
Creating new CNC programs both online and offline.
Editing and optimising existing programs to improve machining accuracy, cycle times and productivity.
Selecting appropriate tooling, machining methods and cutting parameters.
Producing precision-engineered components to tight tolerances.
Carrying out self-inspection and quality checks throughout production batches.
Troubleshooting machining issues and implementing effective solutions.
Planning and managing workflow to meet production schedules.
Supporting colleagues and operating other CNC machinery when required.
This is a hands-on, technically engaging position offering genuine responsibility, autonomy and opportunities to develop your machining expertise.
You will have
To succeed as CNC Sliding Head Programmer Setter, you will ideally bring:
Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC sliding head machines.
Experience with Star, Citizen, Tsugami or similar sliding head CNC lathes.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles, cutting tools and machining techniques.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacture precision components.
Experience modifying and optimising CNC programs.
Understanding of dimensional inspection and tight-tolerance manufacturing.
Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to contribute to a collaborative engineering team.
Previous Star CNC experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Applications are welcomed from skilled sliding head machinists with transferable programming and setting experience.

Permanent daytime working, 39 hours per week.
Choice of 7:30am or 8:00am starts, Monday to Thursday.
Early Friday finish at 12:30pm or 1:00pm.
Overtime opportunities paid at 1.5 times basic rate.
22 days' holiday, increasing annually to 25 days, plus bank holidays.
Quarterly attendance bonus equivalent to 10 hours' basic pay, subject to conditions.
