An exceptional opportunity for an experienced CNC 5-Axis Specialist
Our client is a leading precision engineering manufacturer, producing complex, high-tolerance components for demanding industries. They are looking to recruit an experienced CNC 5-Axis Programmer, Setter and Operator who can take complete ownership of the machining process from offline programming through to production optimisation.
This is not an entry-level programming role. We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with extensive experience in complex 5-axis machining who can confidently work independently and deliver right-first-time results.
The Role
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:
Programming complex 5-axis CNC machining centres using CAM software
Creating and optimising efficient machining strategies
Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, CAD models and GD&T
Selecting cutting tools, workholding and machining parameters
Generating collision-free toolpaths and machine simulations
Editing and optimising G-code where required
Setting and proving out new jobs
Configuring machines for simultaneous 5-axis and 3+2 positional machining
Producing high-precision components to tight tolerances
Carrying out first-off inspections and quality checks
Troubleshooting machining issues and implementing process improvements
Supporting continuous improvement, cycle time reduction and lean manufacturing initiativesWhat We're Looking For
To be considered, you must have:
Significant experience programming, setting and operating 5-axis CNC machining centres
Advanced CAM programming experience
Strong understanding of multi-axis machining strategies
Excellent knowledge of tooling technologies and cutting parameters
Experience machining a wide range of materials
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
Experience producing high-precision, tight tolerance components
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionDesirable Experience
Experience within aerospace, motorsport, defence, medical or other high-precision engineering environments would be highly advantageous.
