CNC Programmer Setter – Up to £50,000 + Overtime
Stewartby, Bedfordshire
Up to £50,000 basic | Overtime Available | Permanent Days
If you’re an experienced CNC Turner or Miller who can program, set and run your own work, this is an opportunity to join a busy precision engineering business offering good earning potential, varied work and genuine technical progression.
Due to continued workload, the company is looking to add another skilled CNC Programmer to its machining team.
They’re looking for somebody who understands machining properly and can take responsibility for getting jobs running efficiently and accurately.
This is not simply an operator position.
You’ll have the opportunity to get involved with the full process including programming, setting, proving out, tooling, troubleshooting and improving jobs.
The role
You’ll be responsible for:
* Programming, setting and operating either CNC lathes or Milling centres.
* Producing precision components from engineering drawings
* Proving out new and existing programmes
* Selecting tooling and machining methods
* Setting speeds, feeds and offsets
* Producing and checking first-off components
* Making programme adjustments
* Troubleshooting machining issues
* Improving setups and cycle times
* Working to tight tolerances
* Taking ownership of your own jobs
What they’re looking for
Ideally, you’ll have experience with:
* either CNC turning or milling
* Programming or editing at the control
* Reading detailed engineering drawings
* Tool selection and offsets
* Proving out jobs
* Tight tolerance machining
* Problem solving and fault finding
* Producing precision components independently
Experience with driven tooling, live tooling, mill-turn or more advanced machining work would be highly desirable but isn’t essential.
The company is mainly looking for someone with strong CNC fundamentals and the confidence to work independently.
A very capable Setter with good programming exposure could also be considered if you’re ready to take on more programming responsibility.
