CNC Milling Setter / Operator
Location: Derby (DE21)
Hours: Permanent, 36.5 hours per week
Early Shift:
* Monday to Thursday: 6:00am - 2:30pm
* Friday: 6:00am - 10:30am
(Monday to Thursday includes one 10-minute unpaid break and one 20-minute unpaid break.)

We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Milling Setter / Operator to join a growing aerospace manufacturing business in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to work within a precision engineering environment, producing high-quality components while developing their skills within a well-established organisation.
Key Responsibilities of a CNC Milling Setter / Operator:
* Set and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components.
* Read, interpret and edit CNC programmes where required.
* Understand CNC code to the level required for machine set-up and operation.
* Set machine datums, tool lengths and wear offsets to ensure accurate machining.
* Prepare machines with the correct workholding, tooling and fixtures.
* Manufacture components in accordance with engineering drawings, job cards and company procedures.
* Monitor machining operations to ensure quality, efficiency and productivity targets are achieved.
* Carry out in-process inspections to maintain product quality.
* Work safely and maintain high housekeeping standards within the manufacturing environment.
* Support continuous improvement activities where appropriate.
Key Skills of a CNC Milling Setter / Operator:
* Previous experience working within an aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing environment.
* At least three years' experience in a similar CNC Milling Setter / Operator role.
* Experience setting and operating Heidenhain CNC milling machines.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Strong understanding of CNC programming, machine set-up and tooling.
* Ideally apprentice trained with relevant engineering qualifications.
* High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality components.
* A proactive approach with good problem-solving skills.
