Description:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Miller to join our precision engineering team. This role involves setting, operating and, where appropriate, programming CNC milling machines to manufacture high-quality precision components for a diverse range of industries.
Working within a fast-paced subcontract machining environment, you will be responsible for producing both one-off and batch components to exact customer specifications. You will play a key role in ensuring parts are manufactured accurately, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Set, operate and, where required, programme CNC milling machines.
* Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings to tight tolerances.
* Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding and machine set-ups for each job.
* Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring equipment.
* Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
* Produce components in a range of materials including aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel, brass and engineering plastics.
* Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is kept clean and serviceable.
* Identify tooling, machine or quality issues and report them promptly.
* Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
* Work to production schedules while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
* Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and productivity.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling and cutting parameters.
* Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, height gauges and dial indicators.
* Ability to work to tight tolerances with a high level of accuracy.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
