We are seeking an experienced CNC Maintenance Engineer to support the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of a multi-axis CNC machining environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team, you will respond to machine breakdowns, develop preventative maintenance strategies and help maximise equipment efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line maintenance support for CNC machine breakdowns to minimise production downtime
- Plan, implement and maintain Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities across CNC equipment
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to improve machine reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum and control system faults
- Perform electrical fault-finding and basic three-phase electrical maintenance
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as TPM, Kaizen, 5S and PDCA
- Work closely with production teams to promote best machining practices and maximise equipment performance
- Support the procurement, installation and commissioning of new CNC equipment
- Assess maintenance risks and recommend appropriate critical spare parts
- Train and support operators in routine preventative maintenance activities where appropriate
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop long-term maintenance and equipment improvement strategies
Requirements:
- Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship or hold an equivalent engineering qualification and at least five years' experience maintaining and servicing CNC machining equipment within a manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience on multi-axis CNC milling machines
- Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum systems, PLC diagnostics and basic PLC programming
- Experience diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out basic three-phase electrical work
- Familiarity with major CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Heidenhain or similar
- Proven experience implementing preventative maintenance programmes and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- Understanding of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and preventative maintenance planning
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques, including TPM, Kaizen, 5S and PDCA
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and production teams
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to improving equipment reliability and operational efficiency
