Skilled CNC Engineer — Learning Grinding
Working week: Monday to Thursday, 06:45–16:30 (37-hour week)
We are recruiting a skilled CNC Engineer for an aerospace manufacturing business in Rochford, Essex. This is an opportunity to develop your skills into grinding as part of your daily role.
The role is predominantly in second operations — not lathes, but the more manual operations on site including grinding, capstan, drills and associated machinery. You do not need to be a fully qualified grinder, but you must be willing to learn. Any existing grinding experience is a genuine advantage.
Four-day week, Monday to Thursday. Immediate start available for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting and running a variety of CNC and second operation machine tools
* Operating second ops machinery — thread-rolling, part markers, drill banks, depitching presses, torque testers and deburrers
* Carrying out first-off and job run inspection of machined parts
* Reading and measuring using micrometer to tight tolerances
* Learning and developing grinding skills as part of the role
* Maintaining machine efficiency and contributing to KPIs
* Reducing scrap and rework and reporting efficiencies to the Production Manager
* Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times
What We Are Looking For
* Solid CNC engineering background — setting and running CNC machines, lathes and manual machines
* Aerospace engineering knowledge — ideally from an aerospace manufacturing environment
* Confident with micrometer reading and working to tight tolerances — 0.5 micron or similar
* Experience with materials including aluminium, stainless steels and Inconel
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* Willing and motivated to learn centreless and manual grinding
* Any existing grinding experience is desirable but not essential
