Inspection & Quality Control: Perform high-precision dimensional inspections using CMMs, portable metrology systems, laser scanners, and CAD models against complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.

Customer Interaction & Support: Maintain strong direct communication with customers to clarify technical specifications, explain measurement results, and discuss inspection outcomes.

Quality & Compliance: Execute work within ISO/IEC 17025 and UKAS-accredited environments. Maintain measurement traceability, prepare inspection reports and calibration certificates, manage non-conformities, and support internal/UKAS audits.

Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate measurement capability, uncertainty, and dimensional trends to support root-cause investigations. Drive first-time-right principles, procedure development, and efficiency improvements.

Team Guidance: Provide technical mentoring, guidance, and coaching to Calibration Technicians, Operators, and Apprentices.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications: HNC / HND / NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metrology (or recognized Engineering Apprenticeship). Certifications in PC-DMIS/MCOSMOS/MODUS or ISO GPS/GD&T are desirable.

Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in precision dimensional metrology or inspection, with a proven track record of developing CMM programs. Background working in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited environment is essential. Experience in Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, or Medical sectors is advantageous.

Skills: Expert knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T (BS EN ISO 1101 / ASME Y14.5). Excellent verbal and written communication skills for customer-facing technical discussions. Familiarity with FAIR/PPAP processes and ERP/calibration software (e.g., IndySoft, MetCal) is desirable.

Workplace Focus: High attention to detail, evidence-based decision-making, and strong technical judgment with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
