Clinical Speech and Language Therapy Researcher, Welsh Medium

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Welsh-speaking specialist speech and language therapist with substantial experience in providing assessment and therapy for Welsh-speaking children to contribute to a research project with far reaching outcomes for Welsh-speaking children and their families.

You will work on the Welsh Government funded project for the development and evaluation of a bilingual surveillance tool of early speech, language and communication development in children in Wales.

You will work closely with the Project Manager and Senior Research Associate to provide specialist clinical expertise relevant to the design and implementation of the research project. This will include the collection and analysis of speech and language data from bilingual children; statistical analysis; contribution to dissemination of key project outcomes. Welsh language is essential for this role.

What we are looking for

* Welsh Language is essential.

* Collaboratively plan, coordinate, and implement research projects in a timely manner.

* Utilise specialist clinical knowledge and experience to design, implement and support essential aspects of the research methodology.

* Exercise independent decision-making in relation to clinical research activity.

* Utilise theory and evidence-based practices regarding Welsh-medium speech and language therapy in order to inform all aspects of the project.

* Ensure the application of relevant regulatory and ethical principles, including any ethics and governance procedures relevant to the project.

* Develop, design, and manage novel data collection and analysis practices relevant to the field in the absence of existing frameworks.

* Assess, interpret, and evaluate research outcomes.

* Initiate and maintain ongoing engagement with relevant internal and external representatives from stakeholder groups to inform the development of the project.

* Conduct and review risk assessments and take responsibility for the health and safety of others on the project team.

* Prepare progress reports on the research from time to time as required by the funder for review purposes.

* Facilitate the delivery of training in relevant subject area(s).

* Act as a responsible team member, leading where agreed, and developing productive working relationships with other members of staff.
