We are currently supporting a large NHS organisation in the appointment of a senior Clinical Governance professional with a key focus on Maternity and Neonatal Services.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the divisional Triumvirate in implementing and monitoring an effective and compliant system of working to ensure robust divisional governance which is in line with national best practice and aligns across divisions.

* Managing all activities relating to patient safety, risk, compliance and audit and patient experience and act as the divisional lead and central point of contact for all divisional governance activities.

* Enabling all staff to actively participate in identifying, actioning and evaluating all patient safety and risk issues.

* Ensure all patient safety events are presented and discussed at the weekly PSERF panel and co-ordinate any resulting investigations.

* Promote a culture of informed questioning, challenge, trend analysis triangulation, challenge and assurance to ensure lessons are learned and the division changes practice in a way which has a positive effect on patient, outcomes, patient experience and reduces harm.

* Leading and supporting the communication and management of the issues through DCIQ (Datix) in line with policy.

* Analyse trends to ensure actions are put in place to reduce the risk of recurrence.  Writing timely reports which clearly identify the issues, lessons learnt and changes to practice.

* Triangulate all patient safety data to ensure divisional focus is appropriate to risk and protects patient safety.

Person Specification:

* NMC Registered Midwife, or significant experience as a Clinical Governance Manager within Maternity Services.

* Experience in quality improvement and of implementing changes in clinical practice in a Maternity service, this must include thorough understanding of CNST requirements.

* Ability to develop excellent working relationships with all staff, be supportive and motivate others.
