2 Months contract with a Local Authority

Job Summary:

·        As a customer-focused individual, you will work to a consistently high quality and adopt prescribed procedures to ensure compliance with SHP’s policies, strategies, and relevant codes and legislation.

·        You will be required to gain access to properties to inspect them, noting the condition of the various building components (roof, windows, kitchens, and bathrooms, etc.), identify building defects, and recommend repairs as necessary.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

·        Provide a Quality Assurance/Clerk of Work service across the full range of work undertaken by Sutton Housing Partnerships.

·        Agree joint quality control procedures with the constructor/contractor in accordance with Sutton Housing Partnerships requirements and audit such procedures and records to ensure that quality control inspections are effective and efficient.

·        Maintain a critical but constructive relationship with the contractor's supervisory staff.

·        Examine specifications and drawings and ensure that any aspects which are not satisfactory are rectified.

·        Carry out site visits at least weekly, to all sites to ensure that materials, construction standards and site practices meet Sutton Housing Partnerships requirements, and prepare a Health and Safety report.

·        Inspect finished work.

·        Prepare specification

Essential Experience Required:

·        Experience working as a Clerk of works or surveyor for 4+ years is essential.

·        4+ years of working experience for a registered housing provider is essential.

·        4+ years’ experience of housing refurbishment/maintenance and management of contractors along with drafting site inspections via iSurvey app is essential.

·        Experience in stock condition surveying, inspecting domestic properties and blocks, ideally within the social housing sector is essential.

·        Experience using handheld devices (Tablet PC) and be able to undertake HHSRS assessments of properties is essential.

Essential Qualification Required:

·        Recognised construction - related qualification to at least HNC or HND level with a demonstrable record of accomplishment as a Clerk of Works or Surveyor on large and moderately complex projects is essential.

Additional information to note:

·        Working hours: 36 hours per week.

·        The role is Hybrid: A minimum of 3 to 4 days working in the Sutton Gate office is required.

·        A full current driving license and your own vehicle are required, as well as a reasonable level of physical fitness to climb ladders to access loft spaces is essential.
