Role: Clerk of Works
Location: Barnstaple and surrounding areas
Salary:£33,742 - £35,490 Depending on experience - plus benefits. Plus Essential Car User Allowance
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Full time/ Permanent
The Role
The purpose of this role to inspect and monitor contract works and progress on new build developments, major work programmes, complex responsive work, insurance remedials in Barnstaple and the surrounding areas.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
* To ensure that contract works are compliant with the approved Employer’s Requirements. documents and the best quality workmanship in all trades is achieved in accordance with the performance specification, building regulations and contract drawings etc.
* To check on-site for material substitutions, or workmanship to ensure overall quality is maintained.
* To undertake regular site inspections and maintain accurate records.
* To carry out final defect inspection and record details of all items that require correction.
* To monitor quality and workmanship of responsive works or major improvements undertaken by contractors.
* To gather property data for street by street assessment.
About You
* You will be looking to work for a supportive company delivering valuable services to the local community.
* You will have demonstrable experience of working within the built environment relating to the development or refurbishment of domestic properties with a range of build types.
* You will have additional experience of reading contract drawings, understanding building regulation and specifications and monitoring contract progress.
* You will have working knowledge of health & safety principles, in particular CDM and Asbestos Awareness.
* You will work well in a team environment, be comfortable liaising and communicating verbally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders including customers.
* Hold a full drivers licence with access to a vehicle for work.
