Job Role and Responsibilities

* Team Management: Supervise a team of 12 permanent cleaning operatives and additional temporary staff as needed. Manage daily, monthly, and annual staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover at all times.

* Operational Oversight: Ensure the market is consistently clean and all waste management activities are completed. Step in to clean the market to cover staff shortages when necessary.

* Compliance: Maintain full compliance with the site HACCP system (Food hygiene regulations) and ensure the site meets the standards required.

* Staff Recruitment and Training: In consultation with the Operations and General Manager, recruit agency cover as required and manage the administration. Set and manage objectives, appraisals, and training for cleaning staff.

* Disciplinary and HR Management: Handle any capability, disciplinary, and HR issues in consultation with the Operations Manager and General Manager.

* Meetings and Inspections: Conduct monthly team meetings to discuss and review relevant cleaning matters. Perform daily physical inspections of site hygiene standards, addressing any issues with team members. Ensure checks are fully auditable and Risk Assessments are adhered to.

* Issue Resolution: Address cleaning issues raised by Environmental Health Officers, Food Standards Agency, tenants, and site management promptly.

* Service Management: Manage the services provided by waste management industry developments and identify potential improvements in consultation with the Operations Manager.

* Additional Duties: Carry out other duties as required by the Operations Manager or General Manager.

* Health and Safety: Actively implement the company's Occupational Health and Safety Policy and ensure due regard for the health and safety of oneself and others.

* Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory role within a cleaning or facilities management environment.

* Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

* Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address and resolve issues promptly.

* Health and Safety Knowledge: Good understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to implement policies effectively.

* Flexibility: Flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and cover staff shortages when necessary.

* Compliance Knowledge: Knowledge of HACCP and food hygiene regulations is highly desirable.

* IT Skills: Proficient in using IT systems for managing rotas, compliance checks, and reporting.
