Class 2 Refuse Driver

Description:

We are looking for a reliable, responsible and safety-conscious Refuse Driver to join our waste collection team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating refuse collection vehicles, carrying out scheduled waste collections and ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company procedures, road traffic regulations and health and safety requirements.

The role involves driving and, where required, assisting with the collection and disposal of domestic, commercial or other approved waste materials.

Key Responsibilities
Safely operate refuse collection vehicles and associated equipment.
Complete scheduled waste collection routes efficiently and on time.
Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or maintenance issues.
Drive in accordance with the Highway Code, company policies and relevant legislation.
Operate vehicle-mounted lifting and waste-handling equipment where trained and authorised.
Assist the collection crew with loading and handling waste when required.
Ensure waste is collected and transported safely to the designated disposal, recycling or treatment facility.
Secure loads appropriately and prevent waste from falling or spilling during transportation.
Complete required paperwork, route sheets, vehicle checks and other operational records accurately.
Report missed collections, damaged containers, hazardous materials, accidents or other issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when dealing with members of the public, customers and colleagues.
Keep the vehicle clean and in a safe, roadworthy condition.
Follow all company health and safety, environmental and operational procedures.
Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Support colleagues and other operational duties as reasonably required.Essential Requirements
A full, valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle being operated.
Previous experience driving
