HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver

PERMANENT OPPORTUNITY

Are you an experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver looking for a varied role with regular work, modern vehicles, and the opportunity to travel across the UK?

We're recruiting for a professional and reliable driver to join a busy transport operation delivering predominantly building materials throughout East Anglia, the Home Counties, London, and the South of England. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently and doesn't mind spending a few nights away each week.

Please note: This role involves 2–3 nights out per week, so applicants must be comfortable with overnight stays.

The Role

You'll be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of building products, primarily bricks and blocks, using a modern fleet of HGV Class 2 vehicles fitted with HIAB cranes.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Delivering building materials safely and on time across a range of customer sites.

* Operating a HIAB crane to load and unload goods.

* Planning delivery routes in collaboration with the transport team.

* Ensuring all loads are correctly secured before departure.

* Completing delivery paperwork, driver logs, and vehicle checks accurately.

* Monitoring traffic conditions and adapting routes where required.

* Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks, including tyres, oil, and brakes.

* Providing excellent customer service when making collections and deliveries.

* Adhering to all Working Time Directive and Drivers' Hours regulations.

What's on Offer

* Competitive salary.

* Modern, well-maintained fleet.

* Predominantly weekday work.

* Weekend work is very occasional and generally limited to local Saturday deliveries.

* Company-funded CPC training.

* HIAB refresher training provided.

* On-site welfare facilities, including shower facilities for drivers.

* A supportive transport team and stable, long-term opportunity.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

* A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence with no more than 6 penalty points.

* A valid HIAB certificate (ALLMI preferred).

* A valid Driver CPC qualification.

* A current Digital Tachograph Card.

* Previous HIAB operating experience, as crane work forms the majority of the role.

* A good understanding of Drivers' Hours and Working Time regulations.

* Excellent driving skills and a strong commitment to safety.

* The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.

* Good communication and customer service skills.

* Basic IT confidence, including the use of mobile phones and driver apps.

* A good level of physical fitness to assist with loading and unloading where required.

* A reliable, trustworthy, and professional approach.

If you're an experienced HIAB driver looking for a secure position with a respected transport operation, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note: Applications will only be considered from candidates who are happy to work 2–3 nights out per week. If overnight stays are not suitable for you, this role is unlikely to be the right fit
