The Opportunity

Search Consultancy is recruiting professional Class 1 (Category C+E) Distance Drivers for high-capacity trunking and long-haul distribution operations. Offering substantial working hours ranging from 45 up to 66 hours per week with regular night outs, this opportunity is ideal for dedicated long-haul drivers seeking high earning potential, maximum mileage, and steady work anywhere on the UK circuit.

If you hold a valid HGV Class 1 license, full Driver CPC, and digital tachograph card, and excel at distance tramping, we want to hear from you.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Operating Class 1 articulated vehicles across long-distance UK routes, your day-to-day duties will include:

Long-Distance Trunking: Executing long-haul inter-depot trunking, bulk distribution, and national distance deliveries across major motorway networks.

Tramping & Night Outs: Managing full-week or multi-day tramping schedules, utilising sleeper cabs, and staying away from home as required by long-distance route plans.

Vehicle & Load Safety: Conducting comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks, ensuring trailer couplings, curtain-siders, or box trailers are fully secured before transit.

Tacho & Hours Compliance: Strictly observing EU Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive (WTD) rules, and mandatory rest break schedules over long-haul patterns.

Communication & Admin: Maintaining regular contact with central transport planners, completing ePODs/paperwork accurately, and promptly reporting traffic delays, mechanical defects, or delivery changes.

Requirements & Qualifications

To satisfy fleet insurance requirements and client compliance standards, all applicants must possess:

HGV License: Valid UK Category C+E (Class 1) driving license with no more than 6 penalty points (no active DD, DR, or IN endorsements for insurance purposes).

Driver CPC & Tacho: Valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC) and Digital Tachograph Card.

Tramping & Distance Experience: Proven commercial experience in long-haul driving, Class 1 trunking, and night-out tramping across national routes.

Compliance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of EU Driver's Hours, WTD regulations, and tachograph mode usage.

Shift & Travel Flexibility: Reliability, stamina, and full commitment to managing variable shift patterns ranging from 45 to 66 hours per week, including regular nights away from home.

Right to Work: Valid proof of right to work in the UK.
