HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver - Plant & Machinery Transport
Midlands | £16+ per hour depending on experience, plus night out allowance | Tramping - overnight stays required | Permanent

We're working with a national plant hire supplier providing advanced machinery to the construction, rail, major project and energy sectors. Safety, sustainability and integrity sit at the centre of how they operate, and they're a business that genuinely invests in its people, with on the job training and real progression as they grow.

Due to continued growth, we're recruiting an experienced Class 1 driver to join their transport team in the Midlands.

Please note: this role involves overnight stays away from home, so flexibility and a genuine commitment to travel are essential.

What you'll be doing

Transporting, delivering and positioning heavy plant machinery, construction equipment and large loads to sites nationwide
Safe loading, securing and transport of plant equipment and attachments
Delivery and collection checks on every load, captured via a tablet-based reporting system
Daily vehicle checks, reporting any defects to the Transport Manager immediately
Maintaining accurate records including timesheets, logs and delivery confirmations
Working to all road safety regulations, weight restrictions and health and safety procedures
Communicating with the transport office, clients and site personnel on any route or delivery issues
Staying away overnight as required, in line with company accommodation and expenses policyWhat you'll need

Valid Class 1 (C+E) HGV licence with a clean driving record
Driver CPC qualification and digital tachograph card
Right to work in the UK
Solid understanding of drivers' hours and tacho regulations
Previous experience transporting heavy plant is highly desirable
Good working knowledge of loading and securing plant and construction equipment
A professional, reliable and safety-conscious approach, as you'll be representing the business on customer sites
Able to work independently with minimal supervisionWhat's on offer
