Claims Officer (Personal Injury)

Description:

Eden Brown Synergy is currently working in partnership with a Public Sector Organisation in Warwick which is looking to recruit a Claims Officer (Personal Injury) on an interim basis for 3 months initially.

The role is hybrid working. 2x/week onsite and 3x/week remote.

Role Responsibilities:
* Ensure all claims are notified to the claims handling system and that records are accurate and up to date.
* All claims must have an allocated accurate reserve in line with Team reserving policy.
* If claims come within the criteria to be notified to external claims handlers or Insurers, these must be notified within the laid down timescales.
* All personal injury claims are governed by the Civil Procecure Rules and these must be strictly adhered to.
* Investigate all claims by way of assessing the information required and obtain this from the relevant Council teams or other party. In certain cases on-site meetings may be needed to assist the investigation process.
* Assess evidence against allegations and legislation to determine whether legal liability will attach to the Council.
* Provide your liability decision to claimants, their legal advisors or external claims handlers. You may also need to advise Council Teams of the decision and explain your reasoning.
* If a claim is to be paid, you will need to obtain evidence to assist in evaluating quantum, this may include motor engineers reports, medical reports and receipts etc.
* Evaluate quantum, negotiate and agree quantum with claimants or their legal advisors, this may also include providing your views to external claims handlers.
* Obtain evidence in relation to claimants solicitors costs, evaluate, negotiate and agree settlement.
* Always keep the claims handling system diary up to date in line with laid down procedures.
* All financial payments relating to claims settlements, costs, fees and claims handling fees will be input and processed via the relevant financial system.
* All claims will be considered against the Teams Fraud Policy to help identify fraudulent claims.
* All claims to be dealt with in accordance with the Teams file management and closure procedure.
* You may be involved in meetings to discuss claims or provide reports and information.
