Claims Handler
Salary: £24,100 – progressing to £27,100
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
Location: Gloucester – Hybrid working after 12 weeks training

Your main duties:
* Managing a portfolio of claims from start to finish, ensuring customers' requirements and expectations are clearly understood.
* Handling claims correctly in accordance with policy cover, legal liability, departmental fraud policies, and compliance with company policies and external regulations.
* Communicating clearly with customers and various third parties through both verbal and written means, including letter writing.
* Proactively using the telephone for outbound calls to engage with external parties and advance claims.
* Managing an allocation of claims while addressing postal and incoming telephony demands.
* Protecting claims costs and making informed decisions regarding payments, liability, settlement costs, and complaints.
* Prioritizing claims to manage urgent matters efficiently, providing high-quality claims service and striving for excellence in a cost-effective manner.
* Identifying fraud indicators and using questioning/investigation techniques to decide if a claim should be progressed to payment or repudiation.
* Completing all supporting administrative tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience required:
* Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy, able to deal effectively with all contacts, from the general public to lawyers.
* Ability to influence and persuade others.
* Experience in multitasking and prioritizing your workload, with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
* Computer literacy and ability to learn new systems.
* Experience in delivering customer service.
* A positive attitude with a flexible and resilient approach to change and teamwork.
* Minimum C grade in Maths and English, or equivalent.
