The opportunity
Due to successful project expansion, our client is a leading engineering and design consultancy, working on some of the most significant infrastructure projects in the UK. They are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to join their team in Warrington, working on a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects.
The role
As a Lead Civil Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other high-value experts from regulated and comparable sectors, producing designs and drawings for feasibility, costing, and construction purposes. You will also be responsible for mentoring and assisting other team members, promoting their technical and professional development.

You will have the following duties and responsibilities
* Producing and having knowledge in external works design; design of highways and access roads; utilities and infrastructure.
* Leading teams to assist with consultancy guidance, feasibility, outline, and detailed design, referencing ‘Manuals For Streets’, ‘Sewers For Adoption’, ‘Design Manuals For Roads And Bridges’, ‘Specification For Highways Works’ and Building Regulations And Guidance.
* Undertaking the co-ordination of thorough site investigations, geo-environmental/contamination assessments; complete inspections, and identify and resolve any issues as appropriate.
* Partaking in ‘Appraise and Select’ and Feasibility studies, progressing through to the ‘Preliminary’ and ‘Detailed Design’ gates.
* Producing high-quality designs, drawings, and reports using engineering materials from commencement to completion, which can readily be checked.
* Assisting in recruitment, retention and management of staff and ensuring successful outcomes for clients/customers.
* Ensuring financial control of projects when acting as a Project Manager.
* Undertaking production and approval of single- and multi-discipline fee proposals for client/customer projects.
* Undertaking accurate and timely assessments of variations and appraisal of fee cost and/or timescale impacts, and agreement with client/customer organisations.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
* A degree qualified (BEng or MEng), Civil Engineer
* Chartership Membership of either Institution of Civil Engineers and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers.
* Experience in the design and detailing of highways & drainage, street works, public works, SUDS, building drainage, utilities coordination/diversion of services.
* Knowledge of seismic design requirements for waste storage / processing plant beneficial
* Knowledge and use of BIM packages
* Experience in preparation of deliverables for early-stage ‘Appraise and Select’, and Constructability Assessments and HAZOPs
* Knowledge of structural aspects of underground/ above ground services diversions
* Software capabilities - Analysis, Design and Integrate using engineering software such as AutoCAD 2D; Civil 3D; Flow / Micro-drainage (or similar hydraulic design software); TEDDS; MathCAD; Tekla; Revit, Autodesk Design Review, Navisworks, (as well as producing hand calculations).
