The Opportunity

Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

The Project

We are now looking to build the Control & Instrumentation capability within PPP across all our Projects.

The Role

We are now expecting several projects to have exciting opportunities to recruit a Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineers to join the team in either Birchwood or Cumbria.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ROLES ARE EXPECTED TO START LATER THIS YEAR/ EARLY PART OF 2027.

As a C&I Engineer your responsibilities will include:

* Provide Control & Instrumentation design support across all project phases, including Prelim/detailed design, procurement, manufacture, construction, commissioning and installation.

* Produce, update and review C&I engineering deliverables to programme deadlines and in accordance with applicable standards, regulations and client requirements.

* Support the development of control systems, instrumentation systems, field instrumentation and associated plant interfaces.

* Producing and reviewing engineering documentation including control philosophies, instrument schedules, data sheets, loop diagrams, block cable diagrams, interface schedules and system architectures.

* Work with the supply chain to ensure compliance with client Engineering Standards, respond to Technical Queries and support testing and acceptance activities.

* Integrate and coordinate C&I systems with other engineering disciplines through BIM and multidisciplinary design reviews.

* Ensure C&I design intent remains aligned with safety case requirements, functional requirements and project objectives, supporting validation and verification activities.

* Support commissioning, testing and handover activities to ensure systems are delivered safely and meet project requirements.

* Develop technical competence through collaboration with senior and lead engineers.

As a C&I Engineer you will have:

* BEng/MEng degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a relevant discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by an HNC/HND qualification.

* Professionally registered, or working towards registration, with a relevant professional institution.

* Demonstrable experience in a similar role. Previous Nuclear industry experience is highly desirable, although not essential where suitable transferable experience can be demonstrated.

* Knowledge of relevant industry standards applicable to control systems, instrumentation and functional safety.

* Experience developing C&I engineering documentation and specifications as well as design software and tools such as AutoCAD and associated C&I design packages.

* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
