About the Role

Blackpool Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Qualified Children’s Social Worker to join our fast-paced Assessment and Support Team.

Our mission is to place families, children, and young people at the heart of everything we do. Using our restorative, strengths-based "Blackpool Families Rock" approach, you will co-produce positive outcomes with families, working with them rather than doing things to them.

Key Responsibilities

* Assessments: Undertake comprehensive Child & Family Assessments.

* Short-Term Support: Manage Child in Need Plans on a short-term basis, ensuring smooth transition to Early Help Support.

* Child Protection: Execute Section 47 child protection enquiries and prepare families for Initial Child Protection Conferences.

* Court Work: Undertake Section 7 private family court proceedings and commence Initial Care Proceedings when emergency safeguarding is required.

* Joint Ventures: Complete joint assessments with Housing regarding homeless young people.

What We Look For

* Qualified Status: Full, valid qualification in Social Work (registered with Social Work England).

* Experience: Proven experience within a statutory Assessment or Child Protection environment.

* Vetting: Ability to provide a continuous 5-year reference history with all employment gaps clearly explained.

* Compliance: Compliance with Department for Education (DfE) recommendation questions.

Why Choose Blackpool Council?

* Exceptional Support: Regular professional supervision and access to a dedicated Practice Development Team.

* Great Commute: Located right by Blackpool North rail station and the M55/M6 corridor with secure town-centre parking.

* Inclusive Culture: A transparent, learning-focused environment that celebrates difference and challenges staff to deliver excellent service.
