Description:
Children's Residential Support Worker
Locations: Swindon
Contract: Permanent, full time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week on a rota, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in duties
Pay: £13.50 per hour, plus £50 per sleep-in
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for Children's Residential Support Workers. You will help provide a safe, nurturing home for children and young people, supporting their daily needs, development and individual care plans.
The role
Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people and act as a consistent role model.
Provide day-to-day care and support in line with individual care plans.
Encourage education, activities, life skills, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Help with cooking, shopping, budgeting, household routines and appointments.
Recognise, report and record safeguarding concerns, while maintaining professional boundaries.
Complete accurate daily notes, incident reports and other care records.
Work closely with colleagues, families, social workers and other professionals.
Take part in handovers, meetings, training and care reviews. The rota includes long-day shifts and sleep-ins. Typical patterns may include a 24-hour shift with a sleep-in from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am, or a 48-hour shift with two sleep-ins.
What we're looking for
Essential
Full UK driving licence.
Access to a vehicle or a reliable way to travel to the home.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A calm, resilient approach to challenging situations.
A commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
Flexibility to work the required rota. Desirable
Experience supporting children or young people, particularly in residential care, social care or education.
An understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches.
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an accepted equivalent. If you do not already hold the required Level 3 qualification, you must achieve it within two years of starting the role. You will also complete the home's mandatory training programme.
