Children's Occupational Therapy Assistant

Barnet are seeking a Children's Occupational Therapy Assistant who has a minimum of 2 years experience working with children and in social care. A unique opportunity has arisen to join a small team who are committed and passionate about improving the lives of children/young people with disabilities, complex health needs or chronic illness.The client offers a Part-timecontract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension.

Main Duties for the Children's Occupational Therapy Assistant includes.

Moving and handling assessment and advice: Including provision of hoists/slings and risk assessments addressing specific needs of the child in their home environment.
Home adaptations: Assessment of potential need for adaptations through the national Disabled Facility Grant.
To arrange delivery / installation and review equipment / adaptations for children using the appropriate assessment tools and guidance, taking account of individual circumstances and being sensitive to the client context.
Experience of recommending minor adaptations and non-complex major adaptation
Familiarity with children's equipment for the home such as seating, beds hoists and bathing equipment
Housing needs assessments: Assessments to support a social housing application for a property, identifying specific access needs of a child to be considered when being rehoused.To be Successful

Previous experience working as an Children's Occupational Therapist in the community.
Specialist OT service to children with a neuromuscular, or genetic condition, or with profound developmental disability, impacting on engagement and function in the home environment.
Community based with provision of equipment to support home working.
Manual handling experience.
Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you).
Eligibility to work in the UK.
