Salary up to £50,000 per annum

We are looking for an experienced Children’s Home Registered Manager to join our client in the Northeast.

This is a rare opportunity to join a progressive and informed group of homes which have a main focus of upholding the values and guidelines of a therapeutic community. The home is a 4-bed residential home which specialises in providing care for young people up to the age of 17 with learning difficulties.

Our client is offering a salary of up to £50,000 including bonuses, pension and other company benefits. You will also be entitled to 35 days annual leave including bank holidays. Other benefits include a company laptop & phone and the opportunity to remote work.

Main duties include:

To be responsible for the management, co-ordination, & development of a range of quality therapeutic services for young people that live in the Home.

To ensure the Home exceeds all standards as stated in the Children’s Home Regulations 2015.

To promote relationships as central to the working practice of our Homes. Taking an empathetic and engaging approach to working in partnership with young people, their families, professionals, and other agencies, in order to meet the needs of young people.

To promote team development and effective team working. To understand the impacts of vicarious trauma and how this can affect the internal workings of the team and to promote the companies staff wellbeing programme.

To ensure that the Statement of Purpose and all statutory and relevant paperwork is reflective of therapeutic practises.

To understand the statutory requirements of recording information and be able to implement dynamic and forward-thinking ways to do this.

To coordinate and organise an efficient staff rota, taking into account the needs of the children balanced with the staff work life balance. To ensure that sufficient back up resources are available in emergency/out of hours situations including participation in an out of hours ‘On-Call’ rota when necessary.

To ensure that all team members have meaningful supervision and be confident in their ability to encourage team members to think about how therapeutic approaches can be applied in their practical and paperwork.

To be responsible for quality inductions for their staff team, to devote time and effort to each new staff member ensuring they feel effective and confident in their roles. 

To actively participate in recruitment, grievance, disciplinary, wellness and other staffing matters with support from the operations team. To ensure the quality of people selected for the roles are empathetic and nurturing and have a willingness to learn.

To ensure that all Health and Safety Regulations, including fire, medication, vehicles and all premises are followed in accordance with the homes policies, procedures and practices.

To ensure that all finance budgets, control, administration and records comply with procedures.

To promote and implement the company’s policies and procedures and ensuring that they are attachment based and trauma informed.

Essential skills & qualifications:

MUST have experience in Residential Children’s Social Care with a minimum of two years’ experience, ideally as a deputy or senior member of staff.

An understanding of Trauma Informed Care and therapeutic background. A working knowledge of PACE and effective understanding of what a therapeutic placement looks like for children.

Hold a L NVQ Level 5 in Residential Childcare or equivalent or be willing to work towards this qualification within two years.

MUST have at least one years’ experience in a management / supervisory role.

Be able and willing to pass an Ofsted Fit Person Interview.

A clear DBS & UK driving license 

Confidence and Understanding of The Children’s Home Regulations and all legislation associated with the running of a registered Children’s Home.

The ability and strength to deal with challenging situations in a non-consequential and nurturing way with the confidence to set appropriate boundaries and implement the communities’ policies and procedures.
