Are you passionate about supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and behavioural challenges?

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Children's Behaviour Mentor to support pupils aged 3-11 years within welcoming primary school across Swansea. This rewarding role focuses on supporting children with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

This opportunity is ideal for applicants with experience in education, childcare, youth work, sports coaching, behaviour support, care work, mentoring or community-based roles.

About the Role

As a Children's Behaviour & ALN Mentor, you will provide support to pupils with:

✅ Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
✅ autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
✅ ADHD
✅ Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
✅ Speech, language and communication difficulties
✅ Behavioural and emotional needs
✅ Low confidence and self-esteem

You will play a vital role in helping pupils regulate emotions, engage with learning and succeed both socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ALN and behavioural needs
Build positive and trusting relationships with children
Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Work collaboratively with teachers, ALNCOs and pastoral teams
Adapt support strategies to meet individual needs
Encourage engagement, confidence and independence
Act as a positive role model throughout the school day
Always maintain safeguarding and welfare standards
Requirements

Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals
Understanding of ALN, Autism, ADHD or SEMH is desirable
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Resilient, patient and positive approach
Commitment to supporting children's development and wellbeing
Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
