About the Role
Wigan Council, is seeking a skilled and fast-thinking Children’s Social Worker to join our Duty Service. This service is comprised of five dedicated duty teams and a unique Duty Academy, providing a highly structured environment for expert assessment and crisis intervention.

* Case Management: Hold varying complexities of cases short-term. Case transfer points are strictly defined at the Initial Child Protection Case Conference, first CLA review, first PLO meeting, or the 3rd CIN meeting.
* Sustainable Solutions: Empower families using creative, strengths-based approaches to co-produce long-term, sustainable safety plans.
What We Look For
* Qualified Status: Valid social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
* Compliance: Completion of the Department for Education (DfE) recommendation compliance checklist prior to submission.
Why Choose Wigan Council?
* Manageable Workload: The 5-week rota system ensures you have four weeks out of five to focus on case writing, interventions, and administrative steps without new intake pressure.
* Built-in Support: Every team is heavily resourced with a dedicated Team Manager, an Advanced Practitioner, and a Senior Social Worker always on hand.
* No Long-Term Drift: Clear, strict transfer policies mean you hand cases over swiftly once initial assessments and short-term interventions are complete.
