Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist SEND school in Brighton who are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Child Mentor to join their team on a full-time basis.

The school are looking for an educator who can bring positivity, confidence and consistency into the classroom while building meaningful relationships with the pupils they support.

Your Role as a Child Mentor

As a Child Mentor, you will work closely with pupils on both a 1:1 and small-group basis, providing the encouragement, guidance and continuity they need throughout their school day.

For many of the pupils, having a familiar and trusted adult is incredibly important. You'll be expected to become a strong and positive role model, helping pupils feel comfortable, confident and ready to engage with their education.

Your responsibilities will include:

Being a positive and consistent role model for pupils

Building strong, trusting relationships with children and young people

Providing support on both a 1:1 and small-group basis

Using your SEND experience and knowledge to adapt to individual needs

Showing confidence when supporting pupils with additional needs

Providing the continuity and consistency pupils require

Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom activities

Supporting pupils with their communication, confidence and social development

Bringing a positive, enthusiastic and approachable attitude to school each day

Working alongside teachers and other SEND professionals to provide high-quality support

Availability: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Setting: Specialist SEND School
Experience: Previous SEND experience required
DBS: Child-Only Enhanced DBS required

Is This You?

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people and understands how important patience, consistency and positivity can be within a SEND environment.

You should be confident in your own ability, comfortable taking initiative and able to remain a reliable and reassuring presence for the pupils you support.

Experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Youth Worker, Learning Support Assistant, Mentor or Care Worker could make you an excellent fit for this position.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
