We are currently recruiting for a temporary Chef/Cook to join a residential care home in Chingford on behalf of one of our clients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious, high-quality meals for older adults living with dementia, ensuring all meals meet individual dietary, nutritional, cultural, and medical requirements. You will maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness while contributing to a positive dining experience for residents.

Key Responsibilities for Chef/Cook

Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for residents in accordance with planned menus and individual dietary requirements.

Cater for specialist diets, including texture-modified meals, diabetic, vegetarian, allergy-aware, and other medically prescribed diets.

Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served in line with Food Safety, HACCP, and health and safety regulations.

Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, organisation, and infection prevention.

Monitor food stock levels, rotate stock appropriately, and minimise food waste.

Work collaboratively with care staff and management to ensure residents' nutritional needs and preferences are met.

Complete all required kitchen records, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and food safety documentation.

Requirements for Chef/Cook:

Previous experience working as a Chef/Cook within a residential care home, nursing home, healthcare setting, or similar environment.

Experience preparing meals for older people, including those living with dementia and requiring specialist nutritional diets.

Catering qualification or equivalent professional cookery qualification. Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (minimum).

Enhanced DBS check (clear and in date).

Up-to-date mandatory training relevant to the role.

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
