Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certification Engineer within the Quality and Assurance team. This role will be based on site in locations around Kingsbury and Lichfield The northernmost site of the West Midlands stretch of HS2 runs from Water Orton to Lichfield. The sites are mainly rural and will link HS2 to the West Coast Mainline track.

Role description:

Take lead for technical assurance from detailed design through to handover (completion of the works), to ensure that BBV can demonstrate compliance to all HS2 works information, standards and contract technical requirements. This includes ensuring that the wider team understand the relevant requirements and provide the appropriate Validation and Verification evidence to demonstrate that the requirements have been met.

Experienced required:

Experience in the management of QMS on major projects in the construction industry.
 Experience of Technical Assurance (compliance requirements), Handover (Quality Record Packages) and Certification.
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma.
ISO 9001 Audit Experience Key Skills and Knowledge.
Ability to anticipate potential quality risks and implement or process preventive measures to limit these risks.
Experienced in the use of project information tools and management systems including MS Office and web-based collaboration technologies for project information and process management, such as IBM Doors.
Safety Committed (CSCS card, SMSTS or similar).
Driving license.Please note candidates will need to have a current valid right to work in the UK to be considered for this role.

We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. Our work with HS2

Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

• 9.3km of viaducts

• 62 overbridges

• 35 cuttings

• 56 culverts

• 62 embankments

• 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut and cover tunnels

• 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certification Engineer (Utilities) within the Utilities team. This role will be based on site in Coleshill. Our head office is located within an excellent location easily accessible via the M6 and M42. The office is also accessible via rail, and we offer employees a shuttle bus transfer to our office from Birmingham international.

Role description:

Responsible for Utilities Technical Assurance from detailed design through to handover (completion of the works), ensuring that BBV can demonstrate compliance to all HS2 works information, standards, and contract technical requirements (including change management). This includes ensuring that the wider stakeholder teams understand the relevant requirements and provide the appropriate Validation and Verification evidence to demonstrate that the requirements have been met Working as part of a multidisciplinary team; providing technical assurance support to the project team and interfacing with the client and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

Implementing Technical Assurance & Handover Management Plans/Procedures and associated documents.
Attending project meetings.
Facilitating configuration workshops/reviews as necessary.
Managing the progress of handover packages, ensuring all content is compliance with the contractual requirements and that packages are submitted on time as planned.
Supporting the knowledge sharing.
Engage with the team to make technical assurance part of business as usual. Experienced required:

Experience working on major projects in the construction or utilities industry.
Experience of Technical Assurance (compliance requirements), Certification packages, handover and completion.
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma.
Leading teams, people management skills, effective delegation, mentoring and coaching and developing others. 
Ability to anticipate potential quality risks and implement or process preventive measures to limit these risks.
Good information management and analytical skills.
Experienced in the use of project information tools and management systems including MS Office, ProjectWise, Business Collaborator and web-based collaboration technologies for project information and process management, such as IBM Doors.
Safety Committed (CSCS card, SMSTS or similar).
