Centre Manager - Running Deer C.I.C.
Full Time, 5 days per week (term time only)
Salary: Band 3: £29,000 actual salary (£36,000 FTE)
Required to start September 2024.
Running Deer Interventions Services is looking to appoint a Centre Manager for our new site near Totnes. This is a term time only position.
* Trauma Informed training & leadership training included as required.
* Use of company electric vehicle as required.
About Running Deer
Running Deer is a not for profit organisation which supports adults and children with learning and mental health difficulties, disabilities, and those not in education, employment, or training.
We provide access to education, training, volunteering, life skills opportunities, and work experience through a variety of community projects. These projects include the provision of a registered independent school and intervention programme, including Creative Interventions our alternative provision.
Running Deer School provides small, specialist, high-support education provision for local education authorities.
Running Deer Intervention Services balances therapeutic trauma-informed support with flexible educational experiences teaching children in a variety of environments including the outdoors.
Job Specification:
* Ensuring that the Alternative Provision is well-led and provide strong leadership by enabling, inspiring and motivating staff and students to build self-esteem and achieve personal and academic progress.
* Support staff development and training opportunities.
* Assist the Director with absence management, monitoring staff performance and handling any disciplinary issues including investigations.
* Alongside the Director of interventions, ensure all staff receive regular supervision, appraisals and are actively encouraged to maximise their skills and positive impact.
* Supporting children who are finding it challenging to access mainstream educational provision.
* Other tasks which may be required to ensure the effective running of the Intervention Service.
* Providing structure, support transition and support educational outcomes for children.
* Utilising the benefits of biophilia, accessing the outdoors to build resilience, self-esteem and develop emotional literacy.
* Providing therapeutic interventions to support emotional wellbeing.
* Listening to young people.
* Providing an opportunity to build trusting relationships with an emotionally available adult.
* Participating in the active safeguarding of our users, clients, and staff; working with colleagues, and external agencies to keep children and young people safe
* Facilitate family workshops and support sessions, coffee mornings etc.
Person Specification
You must:
* Be assertive, confident, resilient, and able to initiate action when required.
* Be relationship focused and understand the needs of our staff team and young people.
* Be adaptable, display initiative, and be able to work independently; we value creativity and unique thinking,
* Be passionate to support and facilitate change and care of young people’s experiences,
* Demonstrate ability to work and plan cooperatively,
* Have excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills,
* Be committed to continuing professional development,
* Be comfortable working with children and young people with additional physical, emotional, developmental, or mental health needs,
* Be able to demonstrate commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and the values of Running Deer Intervention Service.
* Be able to approach their role empathetically and without prejudice while maintaining professional distance and neutrality.
Requirements Essential skills and qualifications:
- Relevant Professional Leadership skills.
- Ability to demonstrate effective people management skills through delegating, empowering, motivating and coaching staff.
- Experience of successfully administering change and delivering service improvements.
- Excellent core skills (Maths and English).
- Level 3 or higher qualifications (A-level or equivalent).
- A demonstrable understanding of information technology, including word processing.
- Experience in youth work, education, or community development in a sector with a focus on children and young people with special educational needs.
- Ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Disability Discrimination Act.
Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, which will include a check against the Children’s Barred List.
