We’re looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Category Manager to join an exciting and growing business based in Dunnington.

If you have experience in retail within the food or drink industry, enjoy making things happen and want the opportunity to have a real impact, this could be the role for you.

This is more than just managing a category. You’ll have the opportunity to shape strategy, influence suppliers, develop ranges, identify new opportunities and help drive the continued growth of the business.

What you’ll be doing

* Developing and delivering category strategies that support business growth

* Managing and developing strong relationships with key suppliers and partners

* Identifying new products, trends and opportunities within the market

* Reviewing sales, margins and category performance to maximise results

* Supporting ranging, pricing and promotional decisions

* Working closely with internal teams to deliver commercial objectives

* Using market and customer insight to identify opportunities for growth

* Developing strong supplier partnerships and negotiating commercially

* Monitoring competitor activity and keeping ahead of industry trends

* Supporting exciting projects, promotions and new initiatives

* Attending supplier meetings, events and business trips when required

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

* Experienced in Category Management, Buying or a similar commercial role

* Ideally experienced within retail, food or drink

* Commercially minded with a strong understanding of sales, margins and profitability

* Confident working with suppliers and negotiating effectively

* Comfortable analysing data and turning insights into action

* Creative, curious and always looking for the next opportunity

* A great communicator who enjoys working with people

* Ambitious and keen to grow with the business
