Within the recently updated structure for the procurement team, the Category Managers will work with full autonomy to undertake strategic thinking, planning and delivery of procurement activity across their allocated category area of spends.

Your new role

You will be required to deliver a client focussed professional service, providing complex advice and challenging current practices within services on procurement related matters. The Category Manager is also responsible for commodity and contract strategy development and implementation, whilst providing a programme of support and engagement which can stimulates markets and local economic growth.
This recruitment process is for an opportunity to lead on the construction and waste category within the corporate procurement team.
The successful candidate will be able to deliver financial and non-financial benefits, recognise opportunities and deliver added value for the organisation.
The category manager will each have full line management responsibility for a small category team and wider support will be provided from a Procurement Policy & Development team.What you'll need to succeed

You will be educated to SCQF Level 9 in a relevant discipline, with working knowledge of relevant procurement legislation and experience of procurement within a public sector environment.
Successful candidates will also be required to have strong communication and presentation skills, bringing with them a positive attitude and motivation to the team.
You will also expected to provide market insights and understanding for the category areas you are working within.What you'll get in return
