What you need to know about the role
Our Procurement function has responsibility for maximising purchasing leverage and providing the most efficient and effective supply base to meet the needs of the business. Their role is to provide a commercial framework that allows the business operation to run at a cost base that provides the best value whilst ensuring security of supply and flexibility.

Working closely with relevant procurement teams where applicable you will establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with key internal customers to gain an understanding of their needs to improve the service provided. You will liaise with plant personnel to identify customer needs and agree fit for purpose specifications to achieve maximum value and manage vendor relationships in a professional and effective manner.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

* Negotiate and manage framework agreements to make commitments in line with established procedures, on behalf of the Business, for the provision of goods or services in the most cost effective manner, ensuring security of supply and in accordance with customer needs.

* Develop sourcing strategy for each category requirement, utilising and interpreting information to determine the appropriate approach in order to identify and approach vendors.

* Engage vendors to submit proposals and tenders to supply products and or services.

* Engage with internal stakeholders and determine involvement required to control vendor engagement throughout the sourcing process.

* Control the tendering process by established procedures, complying with current legislation and company standards.

* Determine the best process of vendor engagement whilst considering alternative and innovative procurement techniques e.g. RFI, RFP, e-sourcing etc.

* Monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and provide assistance in situations of claims and disputes.

* Responsible for resolving any contract disputes, price amendments or scope variation.

What we need to know about you

We’re looking for an experienced procurement professional, ideally with experience in the heavy manufacturing industry although this is not essential. Experience in demand planning/supply chain planning would also be beneficial.

We will also consider candidates with a commercial background - Sales, Account Manager, etc.

You need to be confident with a proactive attitude. Ideally, you will be a member of CIPS. CIPS Level 4 is desirable, but not essential. You should be proactive in your approach and able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. With a proven ability to analyse, interpret and act upon large amounts of information along with keen attention to detail you will also have excellent interpersonal skills: negotiation, influencing, and facilitation skills.
