About this client/child: Amir (47) currently lives in an adult nursing home. He will be moving back to a fully adapted family home, with his adult son and daughter in April this year. Amir likes to attend his local Mosque every Friday. He enjoys hearing the Quran being read to him, spending time with his family, taking trips to his local park (weather permitting) and sensory awareness activities, such as hand massages with essential oils. Amir has an Acquired Brain Injury and is in a semi-conscious state; he is non-verbal and can use limited facial expressions to convey some emotions. Amir needs support with all aspects of his personal care and with all daily living tasks, including manual handling and transfers using his ceiling track hoist. Amir has a PEG in place for all his nutrition, fluid, and medication needs. Amir also has a Baclofen intrathecal pump to administer pain relief, this is managed by the hospital.
Overview of role: We are recruiting a for a full-time, care team leader to support Amir and manage his team of 6 support workers, including devising and managing the Rota. Amir’s days start at 7.00am, and he will require support with his morning routine, including showering and getting ready for the day. Then, Amir might like to take a trip out to his local park, or he may need to attend a hospital appointment. He always attends his local Mosque on Fridays, which is very close to the family home, though due to the hilly location of the property, Amir will always need to be driven to these activities and appointments. When staying at home, Amir likes to listen to readings from the Quran and watch some television. Amir receives all his nutrition through a PEG feeding tube, so experience using a PEG is essential. Amir does not yet have his own WAV, so the team leader will be proactive in arranging taxis, or liaising with the nursing home as they will be supporting with transportation in the interim. When working a waking night, Amir will need checking every hour to ensure he is comfortable and that his PEG feed is running smoothly, though Amir sleeps soundly at night. Use of kitchen and living room when working waking nights.
Who this job would suit: This role will suit an experienced care team leader, who has good experience supporting an adult with an Acquired Brain Injury. Someone with an interest in, and sensitivity to other cultures and faiths.
What’s great about this job: This will be a very rewarding role, facilitating Amir’s move back to live with his adult son and daughter in a family home environment.
Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews
