Care Home Nurse

As a nurse working for a care home, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to residents. You will work as a member of the nursing team, carrying out all relevant forms of care in conjunction with other nurse practitioners. Ensuring that care services are consistently provided to a high-quality standard ensuring the personal care needs of residents, are met while respecting the dignity of the individual and promoting independence. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being and health of the elderly or individuals with various medical conditions who reside in the care home. We will be carrying out supervisions as part of your job role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
To work as part of an efficient team and to contribute to the smooth running of the Home working to the policies and procedures of the care home and operating within NMC guidelines
To continue professional development through attending and contributing to internal/external training and development, meetings and supervisions
To accurately assess the needs of residents and identify priorities of care.
To administer all medication and treatments within the NMC guidelines and care home medication policy
Report any ill–health amongst residents and make request for GP/professional visit where necessary
Ensure that residents' care plans are completed and maintained in conjunction with residents, relatives, and other health care professionals, and in accordance with NMC guidelines & association policy
Assess all aspects of residents’ care needs, and provide health supervision and direct nursing care when required
Assess social and health care needs of new residents, and maintain on-going assessment and review of all other residents
Maintain accurate records and ensure that each resident within the Home has an individualised care plan.
Resident care plans to be reviewed on a monthly basis, or more frequently as and when required, in accordance with NMC guidelines & company policy
Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all relevant staff members at the end of each shift
Assist in the delivery of care for residents who are terminally ill or who have a progressive illness
Record and report resident observations in care plans to ensure maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records
Support new staff members in all aspects of their work in the home giving help and guidance where appropriate.
To act as a mentor to new staff and less experienced members of staff,
Skills and Experience
Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures, including medication administration and wound care.
Ability to empathise and communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team.
Strong organisational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in caring for older adults.
Flexibility to work day, evening, night shifts, and weekends as required.
