We are recruiting a Residential Care Assistant for a public sector client in Lancashire. The role involves providing personal care, emotional support, and assistance with daily activities to older people and people with dementia who need long-term residential care.
Responsibility
The post holder will give personal care to service users in a residential setting and provide a comfortable but stimulating living environment following dignity of care principles.
Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* City & Guilds in practical or home nursing.
* NVQ Level 2 in Direct Care or commitment to study to achieve the qualification.
* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
* Capable of moving, lifting, and handling heavy objects and awareness of manual handling good practice.
* Ability to deal with sensitive issues.
* Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills.
* Experience working in a care setting.
* Understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems
* Knowledge of First Aid.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Awareness of Health and Safety requirements.
* Knowledge of the cultures and religions of the local community; ability to work across cultures.
* Understanding of basic care tasks, i.e. bathing, toileting, feeding.
* Ability to liaise with other healthcare professionals.
* Ability to work without close supervision.
* Ability to demonstrate the capability to gain relevant certificates of competence or equivalent where applicable.
* Experience or the ability to demonstrate the competence to do the job.
Essential Compliance Requirements
* Five Years of References.
* Enhanced CRB/DBS Within Last 12 Months
* A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
