Shifts: Monday–Friday (weekend work available)

NHS Diagnostic Cardiology Unit (DCU) Assistant – Supplies Assistant

We're recruiting a Supplies Assistant to join the Diagnostic Cardiology Unit (DCU) at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Northern General Hospital.

The Diagnostic Cardiology Unit provides an extensive range of non-invasive, invasive and specialist cardiac investigations to the South Yorkshire region, including ECG, echocardiography, cardiac device follow-up, and cardiac catheter laboratory support.

You'll provide vital support to the Cardiac Supplies Officer and Lead Physiologists in managing departmental supplies, and help support patient flow throughout the department.

This position is offered on a temporary Bank basis through NHS Professionals, providing flexible working and regular shifts.

Key responsibilities

* Issue goods in accordance with agreed procedures, completing appropriate records and documentation

* Maintain stock at required levels and place orders via Web basket, NHS Supply Chain and the Inventory Management System

* Receive, check and put away delivered goods, maintaining accurate daily records

* Prepare and restock supplies for the Cardiac Catheter Labs, device store and EP store rooms

* Prepare packs needed for the device implantation service

* Process used EP catheters and cables for recycling/re-sterilisation

* Transport equipment, consumables, written information and patients safely around the hospital as required

* Assist with stocktaking and the processing/recording of invoices

* Ensure device files are maintained accurately in alphabetical/device-type order

* Maintain dignity and privacy of patients at all times

Essential experience & requirements

* Good general IT skills, with familiarity in Excel in particular

* Experience dealing with supplies/stock desirable

* Ability to carry out physical work, including frequent bending and lifting

* Enhanced DBS check required
