Location: Berkshire
Salary: £110–£140 per day
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible hours

About the Role

Are you a youth worker, sports coach, behaviour mentor or experienced professional working with young people looking to take your skills into a secondary school environment?

Principal Education is working with secondary schools across Berkshire who are seeking reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to support students and maintain a positive learning environment when teachers are absent.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes using pre-prepared lessons and activities, while supporting students with their learning, behaviour and engagement. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within education, with flexible working options available.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, maintaining a safe, calm and positive classroom environment.
Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and activities provided by teaching staff.
Support students with learning, behavioural and additional needs.
Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and participation.
Act as a positive role model and build effective relationships with students.
Record and report any relevant attendance, behaviour or safeguarding concerns.
Communicate effectively with teaching staff and school leadership.

Person Specification

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working with children or young people, including:

Youth workers
Sports coaches
Behaviour mentors
Teaching assistants
Graduates with relevant experience
Other professionals with strong transferable skills
You will also need:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The confidence to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
A calm, flexible and reliable approach.
The ability to adapt to different schools and classroom environments.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
An Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
