As our Café Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our café and delivering exceptional guest experiences. You will be supported by the Café Manager and another Supervisor.
Your responsibilities will include supporting the Café Manager and supervisor with daily operations, managing staff, and maintaining the quality and consistency of our food and service. Additionally, you will ensure that our high standards of safety, cleanliness and food safety compliance.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Day-to-day supervision of our café team, upholding company standards and safe working practices.
• Daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling and stock management.
• Contribute to creating a positive working environment, helping foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Lead by example by providing excellent customer service and positive dining experiences.
• Train and coach employees on our café operation, processes & procedures, and standards of service.
• Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and portion control.
• Conduct regular inspections and daily checks to ensure food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards.
• Create and manage staff rotas with consideration of business levels and employee availability.
• Conduct regular stock takes and contribute to minimising wasting waste.
• Collaborate with management to develop new menus and implement new sales strategies.
• Conduct, oversee and/or otherwise assist with employee relations providing guidance and assist with the delivery of appropriate performance feedback or action plans.
• Be pro-active in developing own skills and knowledge to improve performance.
• Ensure that Sterling has a positive employment image in the marketplace.
• Champion the Sterling mission and protects the integrity of the brand.
• Promote fairness and consistency in all areas of people management in line with our Sterling values.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as and when required.
Café Supervisor – Qualifications/skills required to perform role:
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing an outstanding dining experience to our guests.
A Food handler's certificate and/or other relevant certifications may be required depending on local regulations.
Essential:
• Previous experience in a supervisory role in the food & beverage industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office / excel)
• Knowledge of health & safety and food safety compliance standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work weekends, and bank holidays.
Desirable:
• Previous experience within a retail group or in-store café.
• Previous experience of EPOS and stock management systems.
